E. Hart, chief engineer of tho N. Y., C. & St. L. (Nickel Plate,), and H. S. Wilgus, engineer maintenance of way, Pittsburg, Shawmut & 'Northern 'Northern railroad, went over the Bessemer, Thursday and Friday, in the capacity of sub-committee of the American Railway Engineers and Maintenance of Way Association, appointed by hat body to investigate the subject of steel ties. Friday the party went to North Bessemer and ?xamined the steel ties in use on the Union railroad, returning: Friday light to Greenville. They expressed surprise at tnu large number of steel ties in use on the Bessemer railroad and were impressed impressed with the results obtained by the Bessemer with the use of the I-bcani steel tin.
