Over a hundred balesof cotton were on ihe streets. Our merchants paid from an eighth to a quarter of a cent over the market for cotton.— Still there were some who growled uulsaid other towns were paying nine. Lasseter, Waldrop «fc Co. began this week to build their new store, where the other was burned. Mr. Burckhalter has bought the lot adjoining his and will build brick house soon. The "Dozier House" changed lands on the first inst. Mr. A. S. Johnson took charge of it. Dr. ICing and wife will see that the warders and customers are well ed and cared for, as they are the managers. Dr. L Roberds'and family left for \tlauta Tuesday. Dr. II. goes to ittend medical lectures, and as he will be gone for some time he took lis family with him. The Presbyterian church has .ust been plastered and painted md presents a neat and cozy appearance. There is some talk of building a streetcar line from thi.$ to the "old own" to accommodate the young nen who have "folks" over there. Mr. Bob Wilson has sold his home ind lot and shop to Mr. M. A. Luther. Mr. W. will go to Carrollton.
