and selected." by for A had delayed runway Five Killed in Auto Accidents This Week Five persons have died in two separate traffic accidents since Monday. Four persons were killed in.a head-on collision at Tok early Monday and a Barrow woman was killed when she was struck by a truck. Two Fairbanksans escaped injury yesterdaywhen the truck in which they were riding crashed at 2 Mile Steese Highway. Killed in a head-on crash at Tok, were: Eleanor B. Lund, 37, 2100 Loussac Road, Anchorage; her daughters, Mary Ellen, 18, and Patricia, 17, of the same address, and Kenneth Larry Folger f 52,a guide operating in the Chisana area near Tok. Injured, and in critical condition, are Billy Lund, 8, and Jenny Lund, 11. In Barrow, an elderly woman, Mrs. Mamie Simmons, was killed in what was called a freak accident involving a construction truck. Mrs. Simmons and a companion, unidentified, were on foot, and apparently trying move out of the way of the approaching vehicle. One woman walked to the left side of the road, one to the right. Mrs. Simmons was struck and killed. A 1954 Studebaker pickup truck was 'totaled' out last in a near-tragic accident on the Steese highway, according to Alaska State Troopers. The driven by Eugene Eades, 24, of 6'/z Mile Richardson, was fully accelerated when the mishap occurred. It flipped high in the air, and landed in a tangled Eades, and his passenger Charles McKelvey, 24 of 1345 6th Ave. crawled o u t , miraculously escaping serious injury. The office said Eades was cited for reckless driving.
