SPRING GROVE HAS NO JAIL HOUSE TO KEEP ITS BAD MEN Spring Grove, ( Jan, 10, The borough has not had tha use of their lock-up for the past two year. Tha lock-up, which Is located In the alley to the rear of Water street, between Cemetery and Railroad streets, wss condemned by state authorltits arly In 1914. because of Its ramshackle condition. The structure Is made of red brick and consists of two or three cells, each of which Is large enough to hold only one person. It contains no conveniences. A small coal stove Is there to furnish heat Tha lock-up has been used In past years to house law-breakers for only a short duration of time, after which they were taken to the county prison. The lost prisoner that was lodged In the lockup broke out and escaped. Since then It has not been usod. On numerous occa slons It was opened for tha use of way-farers, who were insearch of night-lodging while In the borough. This accommodation was discontinued after It was learned that certain of these migrators were making a habit of lodging there. Besides, some time before when the borough stopped supplying wood for fuel, It was seldom used.
