County Jail Remains Full Of Prisoners The Allegany County Jail is "over-populated" this summer, according to Sheriff Paul C. Hab- erlein. Sheriff Haberlein noted this morning that since June the county jail has been housing an average of 40 persons per day, more than double the normal summer average. On several occasions this summer more than 50 persons were lodged in the county lockup. At one time seven women were confined, another unusual item. During the past fiscal year, June 1960 through June 1961, the jail handled 10,215 prisoners, for an overall average of 28 prison ers per day. Sheriff Haberlein said.
