Wood River Council Will Buy Police Riot Guns the WOOD RIVER, NOV. 18.—Wood, River police are to be equipped with riot guns. After stating that "things that have happened recently have made us realize the need of them," Alderman Walter Scott moved the purchase of the new weapons Monday night. He said he knew where he could buy two ot them at an exceptionally low price. The council allowed him $35 to purchase the guns and a supply of shells. Aside from its decision to buy the riot guns, the Council transacted little other than routine business at the meeting last night, which ended at an almost record early hour, 8:15, despite Mayor Hamilton's admonition to "dig up something for the reporters present and make some news copy." Dr. U O. Rockefeller, city health officer, called attention in his report to a case of small-pox which had been at large for eight days before a physician Was called.
