the the covered Tension Sends Alabama Guard Into City By United Press International National Guardsmen were ordered into Aliceville, Ala., Thursday when about 70 singing and hand-clapping Negro children forced the closing of the city's two all-black schools the day. Gov. Albert Brewer sent 100 e v e l Guardsmen into the town of 4,000, situated about 15 miles from tile Mississippi state line, because, he said, a large band of "young militants" was roaming Aliceville's streets. Sheriff IxHiis Coleman said, however, there were no gangs on the streets, and that the guard had been requested onl "to give the colored kids wh want lo go to school protcc tion." A Negro youlh ,said th Southern Christian Leadershi Coference (SCLC) had bee staging protests in the tow during recent days to back u demands for "quality educa tion." Officials confirmed th protests had drained attendanc at the two scdools from th expected 1,500 to about 430.
