Lewis Fields, 76, retired farmer, died at his home in Leclaire at o'clock Saturday afternoon following an illness of about ten weeks, due omplications. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and at the First Presbyterian Church at 2:30. Rev. C. L. Attig, pastor, officiating. Interment will be made at the Liberty Prairie Cemetery. Mr. Fields was born in Wayne County, III., a son of the late Mr. Mrs. James Fields. At the time of his death \e was . se 76 years, months aud 25 days. In 1879 he united In marriage with Mrs. Eliza Newman Sloan. They lived in Hamel Township for 40 years before Fields retired from farming 14 ago and the family moved to Leclaire. Survivors are one son, Clarence Feilds, Edwardsville, three step-children, Samuel Sfean. Mrs. Alex Edwardsville, and C. H. Sloan, St. Louis; one brother, Marlon Fields, Alton; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mrs. Ed. Eaton, who has lived with the faintly since early childhood, also survives.
