She married John McGrane June 5, 1888, at St. John's church in Arcadia, with the Rev. Father Schulte officiating. They located on their farm three miles west and one-quarter of a mile south of Halbur, where they lived until their retirement in 1920. After spending two winters in California, they moved to Omaha, where they lived for a year before coming to Carroll in 1923. Mr. McGrane died April 27, 1925. Five years after her husband's death, or in 1930, Mrs. McGrane went to Fort Dodge, where she lived with her son, Charles, for 16 years. She was the last of a family of five children. Her surviving sons and daughters are: James, Arcadia; John, Wadena, Minn.; Mrs. Hubert Tacke (Catherine), Rock Rapids, Iowa; Clarence, Carroll, and Charles, Fort Dodge. She also leaves 31 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Three daughters preceded her in death.
