PFC. W. V. PHARRIS Rites pending Lake Charles soldier killed in Viet Nam A Lake Charles soldier stationed in Viet Nam lias been reported killed in combat July 7. Pfc. William V. Pharris, U.S. Infantry, Co. B, 25th Division, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ford Pharris, 2110 Ory St., was on a combat operation when en- j gaged in a fight with hostile forces. His parents wore notified Saturday by Maj. Gen. J. C. Lambert, U.S. Army Adjutant General's office. Pharris had previously been reported missing in action since July 7. The 19-year-old soldier was a 1965 graduate of Marion High School, and had lived in Lake Charles all of his life prior to entering the Army, Funeral arrangements are pending. In addition to his parents, survivors are two brothers, Bobby Wayne Pharris and Charles Malcom Pharris and one sister, Gloria Jean Pharris, all of Lake Charles, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Pitre of De- Quincy.
