Tux Salt Mines. Mr. T. Tapper has iost received a "telegram from the agent of the new salt mining enterprise now in London, to , the effect that negotiations are progressing favorably. An article in the Picayune some days ago set forth at length the nature of this enterprise, and cave a brief summary of the efforts pre viously mads to mine the immense salt- deposits on Avery's Island, St. Mary parish. The negotiations here referred to contemplate the formation of another company, with a oapital of $500,000, and the resumption ef a work whieh was at ene time fairly in progress. . but sus pended, by the deatn of the principal mover. Should the favorable prospects now existing' be realized and from the character of the gentlemen concerned we have no doubt of it acolossal addi tion to the wealth and industry of Lou- iaiana will result, n -:'r .:, sr
