OK I just found a mention of a man with our grandfathers name, Thomas Watts of Breathitt County, Kentucky in a December 18, 1896 Louisville Courier Journal story about a mountain feud between members of the Ku Klux Klan and another group called Red Stringers. It seems the Red Stringers anti-klan group had recently threatened certain members of the Klan, including one Thomas Watts. Could it be the same Thomas Watts who was our great grandfather?
