Johnnie O'Day Sam GALVESTON - Mr. Johnnie O'Day Sam, 64 of Galveston died Tue Feb. 25, 1992 at U.T.M.B. Hospital Hospital (ER) in Galveston. Services will be 2 p.m. on Saturday Saturday at the Chapel of Fields Funeral Funeral Home with the Rev. Margie Russell officiating. Burial will follow follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston. Galveston. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. on Friday at Fields Funeral Home. Followed by a wake between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Mr. Sam was born Oct. 9,1927 in Jeanerette, LA. He was a Construction Construction Laborer with Local 116. Mr. Sam had been a Galveston resident resident for 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Elizabeth Sam of Galveston; two daughters, Daphne Lynn Sam of Compton, CA. and Angelon Renee Epps of Galveston; two sons, Dale Alien Franklin of Houston and Kenneth Ray Sam of Oakland, CA.; three Stepsons, Douglas Venters, Norris Venters and Robert Robert Payne all of Galveston; four Stepdaughters, Barbara Payne, Vanessa Siverand, Kathy Venters and Dora Venters all of Galveston; a very devoted friend Doris Venters of Galveston; four sisters Selina Brooks of New Iberia, LA., Nursey Green of Jeanerette, LA., Gladys Welcome of Beaumont, TX., Margie Russell of Houston; a brother Amos Sam of Galveston; seven Grandchildren; numerous Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Bazaman was born January January 31,1923 in Galveston. He enlisted enlisted in the U.S.M.C.R. 15th Battalion on February 20, 1940. He later joined the 4th Marine Division where he supervised combat loading. loading. He served on Kwajaline Atol, Saipan, Tinian,' Iwo Jima, where he was wounded twice. He was- honorably discharged August 19, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas where he met and married his wife. He was past Commander of Chapter #110 DAV, past Veterans Advocate of the year, past Marine of the year of Coastal Bend Detachment Detachment of the Marine Corps League Corpus Christi, Texas. Past Chairman Corpus Christi Mayor's committee for Veterans Affairs. Post Sergeon of the VFW Post #2397, Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the Manager for Zales Jewelry Store in Galveston for 15 years before moving to Bristol, Tennessee where he retired and returned returned to Corpus Christi, Texas. He is survived by his wife Esther Esther Bazaman of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter, Linda Ann Bazaman of San Antonio, Texas; son, Herman Bazaman of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, Sam Bazaman of Galveston and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services are scheduled scheduled for 2:00 p.m. today at Beth Jacob Jacob Cemetery with Rabbi Pincus Aloof officiating. Ross GALVESTON — Christopher Pierre Pierre Ross, age 5, of Galveston, passed away on Monday, February 24 at.U.T.M.B. Hospital in Galveston. Galveston. Christopher was born on September September 8, 1986 in Galveston to Ms. Tomia A. Ross. He was baptized at Shiloh AME Methodist Church at the age of 2 years by the Reverend Leonard. He attended YPS and Sunday School when he was able and enjoyed fellowship with the other children.
