ELI Z ABET HVILLE DRAWS MANY WORKERS FROM SURROUNDING SECTIONS By THE TOWN VISITOR Elizabethville, Oct. 19. Nine miles northeast of Halifax and seventeen miles above Harrisburg is Elizabethville, a borough of about 1400 population. ' Elizabethville was laid out in 1817, by John Bender, a tavern keeper, and was named for his wife, Elizabethville. The town was incorporated as a borough in 1893. Elizabethville is a town of good streets, it has a municipal park that would be a credit to a much ter system, ' has four churches, two banks, and a new motion picture theater. Its industries employ workers from a wide surrounding area of Dauphin county. The two banks are the Lykens Valley Bank, established in 1905, and the First National Bank, organized in 1900.
