John Backlund, 70, a resident Ironwood for the last 40 years, at his home at 317 East Pine at 10 o'clock this mornliig of a 1 complication of diseases. He had been bed ridden for several months. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon, with services at home at 2 and at the Zlon Luth- eran church at 2:30. The Rev. W. Kastman will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. body will be at the Ketola funeral 1 home until 3:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, when it will be taken the residence. Mr. Backlund was born in Finland, Oct. 11, 1865. He came this country 43 years ago, locating at Metropolitan, Mich., where he reaialned three years before to Ironwood. He was employed the Oliver Iron Mining Co. Mr. Backlund Is survived by his wife and three daughters, Mrs. Foreman, Mrs. Elmer Liljequlst, and Mrs. William Peterson, and grandchildren, all of Ironwood. was a member of the Order of Runeberg and of the Zlon church.
