Robert J. Murphy, Retired Railroad Engineer, Dies Robert J. Murphy, 72 years old, 415 Harlan Street, retired New York . Central Railroad locomotive engineer, died yesterday yesterday in St. Vincent's Hospital. Born at Chicago, he had lived here 55 years. Mr. Murphy retired retired four years ago after 46 years with the New York Central. Central. He was the engineer on the "James Whitcomb Riley," on its first run. Mr. Murphy was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Moose Lodge, and Association of Retired Locomotive Engineers. Engineers. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Kirby Mor tuary and at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Cross Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Anna Fitzgerald Murphy; five daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Masters, Mrs. Florence Mont gomery, Mrs. Alice McCormick, Mrs. Helen Eckhart and Mrs. Judy Dezelan, all of Indian apolis; three sons, Maurice F. Murphy of Marsh alltown, la., and Bernard T. Murphy and Robert J. Murphy Jr., both of Indianapolis; & sister, Mrs. Anna Smith and a brother, James Murphy, both of Chicago, and 14 grandchildren. .
