Papaw had an accident
4 Escape Serious Injury Iii 2-Car Mishap A blown tire was blamed for a two vehicle accident approximately approximately three miles east of Rushville on highway 44 at 11:20 a m. today. The Rush County Sheriff’s department was called to the scene where David Hickmott 17, 430 W. 2nd Street, was en route west and said he blew a tire. Hickmottks car took to the ditch on the right side of the highway, the driver apparently apparently overcontrolled, then swerved back across the road and hit an oncoming car in the left side. The second vehicle was driven by Melvin Barcus, 66. Glenwood. Glenwood. Barcus sustained a laceration of the left wrist, and his car was damaged an estimated $1100. Hickmott was not injured, but two passengers in his car were taken to Rush Memorial for checkup. Billy Hammond, 20, R. R. 7, Connersville, complained of a bump on the head, and Everett Isaacs, 16, same address, address, was shaken up. The Hickmott vehicle was totaled. Hickmott was cited by the Sheriffs deputy for driving an unsafe vehicle, and Hammond for permitting a violation. They will appear in J. P. Court.
