David Coon OAKLAND, IL - David Coon, age 66, of Oakland, passed away at 11:40 AM, Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Carle Foundation Hospital Hospital in Urbana. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 25 at Taber Funeral Home in Oakland. Burial will be in the Oakland Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call after noon on Friday at Taber Funeral Home, where the family will be present for visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday evening. David was born on August 1, 1938 in Coles County, Illinois, the son of Earl I. and M. Olive Snyder Coon. He was born and raised in Oakland, and attended CCAR's developmental training program in Charleston, where he had been since his enrollment on September 9, 1970. David was a member of the Ashmore Presbyterian Presbyterian Church. He was a very patriotic person, person, and loved everything red, white, and blue His friends were all very special to him, and his greatest pleasures in life were CCAR and Camp New Hope. He also loved watching tele- tele- li - Coon vision, especially sporting events of the Bears, the Cubs, and the University of Illinois. Survivors include two sisters, Joan Coon of Oakland, and Jean Hinton (Royce) of Cham-paign; Cham-paign; Cham-paign; one brother, Max Coon " (Caroline) of Oakland; one aunt, Margaret Cant of Arling ton Heights; five nieces, Kathy Thompson of Decatur, Nancy Holzrichter (David) of Oakland, Jo Perkins (Greg) of Champaign, Meg Bernier (Jean) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Amy Darling (Jeff) of Prairie Village, Kansas; three nephews, Reid Hinton of Champaign, Eric Coon (Rebecca) of Ashmore, and Jeff Coon (Jo) of Charleston; eighteen great nieces and nephews; and one great-great great-great great-great nephew. David was preceded in death by his parents, and one niece Beth Norton. A memorial fund is being established for either Camp New Hope, or the Ashmore Presbyterian Presbyterian Church.
