James Gatewood, Age 88, Expires James E Gatewood, 88, a former resident of Rush County, died at 4:45 this morning at his home on Ind. 9 south of Fountaintown, after a long period of ill health. Mr. Gatewood was born in Shelby Shelby County in 1867, a son of Oscar and Elizabeth Walker Gatewood. In 1889 he was married to Fannie Smith, who died 16 years ago today. today. Although he had spent most of his life in Shelby County, Mr. Gatewood resided for 20 years in Rush County where he was engaged engaged in farming He was a tian Science Church at Shelbyville and the mother church at Boston. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Inez Hendrix, with whom he lived; a brother, William Gatewood Gatewood of Carthage; three grandchildren, grandchildren, Mrs. Granville Moore of Rushville, Mrs. James Hulman of Shelby County and Morris Hendrix of Muncie, and five great-grandchildren. great-grandchildren.
