Smith Kiker receives top award at NTSU Smith Kiker, assistant professor of journalism at North Texas State University in Denton, received a Student Association Honor Professor Award from that school recently. Kiker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bills of Paris. The awards were given for outstanding teaching. The presentation was made during Honors Day ceremonies April 30. The President's Award, the Idghest honor bestowed by NTSU, was presented to Dr. Robert B.Toulouse. Dr. Howard W. Smith Jr. received the Special Recognition Award, and Dr. David R. Fitch, professor of finance, received the Student Association 'Fessor Graham Award — the highest honor given by the student body. 'Hie Shelton Excellence in Teaching Award, established established last year by NTSU alumnus Joe Shelton, was presented to Dr. Martin Mailman, professor of music. Honor professor awards were also presented to: Dr. John P. Eddy, professor of education; Dr. Clovis C. Morrisson. professor of political science; Dr. Donald K. Staples, chairman of the SMITH KIKER ...NTSU professor Radio-Television-Film Division; and Dr. Jerry L Yeric, associate professor of political science. Intercultural Services Faculty Awards were presented to Dr. Sandra Terrell, assistant professor of speech and drama, and Dr. Alvin Smith, assistant professor of psychology. William A. Vogel, director of athletic department promotions, received the Talon Spirit Award for contributing to school spirit.
