JOHN H. OBERLY IS DEAD. Waa the Great Grandson of the Founder of Sohsefferstown. John H. Oberly, editor of the "People and Patriot," died at his home in Con card, N. B., aged 63 years. He wae bore in Ohio, was civil service commieeionei and Indian cDmmieeioner under Preei dent Cleveland and wee once editor of tbe "Washington Times." Deceased wee a great-grandson cf Alexander Schaeflers, the founder of Schaef- feretown, this county. His father was bora in Scbaefferetown, iron; whence he went to Cincinnati, Oaio, where John H. Oberly was born in 1836. Subsequently the family settled at Wooster, Oaio, where young Oberly learned the printing business. Two or three years before the war be went to Memphis, Term., from which city he was driven in May, 1861, because cf his adhesion to the Union. He went to Ohio, where he married in 1863 and tben went to Illinois. Liter he located in Concord. He was at one time secretary of the Mississippi river commission and was president ot tbe International typographical onion.
