The Franklin Li'erary Society. The regular meeting of tbe Frauldii LUerary Society was held in the High School building yesterday afternoon president Ed. F. Ramsay presiding The roll was called by the treasurer Chi^ E. Hartman, and the queries answered in order. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary Ed L. Sbolly, and approved. The following program of exercise* was rendered: An essay, "Lebauoi County," William Heinbard; a declauia, lion by Samuel Black; a selection, "John Maynard," Oliver Simmons; an essay "Australia," Harry Eisenhauer; a selec tion, "The Little Post Boy," Danie Zellcrs. The first part of the paper wai read by the editor Geo. A. Rumsay; : declamation, '"The Mountain aud tb Squirrel," John Houck. The debate followed on the question "Did the Army accomplish more tlian the Navy in putting down the Rebel lion?" It was decided in favor of Ih Negative side. The remainder of th paper was read by the editor, a selection "The Forest on Fire," J. Katzenberg The critic's report was read by T Bell. On motion adjourned.
