50 Years Ag< In and About Alton Match 28, 1889 Burglars had paid two nocturnal calls. At the residence residence of Alderman Beall on East Ninth street, the intruders ransacked various.rooms including the bedroom bedroom where Mr. and Mrs. Beall lay asleep. They rifled the alclermanic trouser pockets of pocketbook, knife, and keys, and in leaving carried off the Alderman's Alderman's suspenders. Beall said there was no money in his purse, and that the most valuable thlnjr taken was a gold brenst pin of Mrs. Beall. Next stop of the burglars was at the home of Anton Jacoby, 436 Kast Tenth street, where they entered by way of a front window, first reaching in to remove a number of potted flowers.
