Soviet Rumor Mill: Chess Match Delay Irks Russians

https://bobby-fischer-1972.blogspot.com This report confirmed the predictions of Ken Smith, that "old hands" in Belgrade & Russia were maneuvering to disqualify and replace Fischer. The Soviet wished to retain the crown, without so much as fair play. The criticisms were based entirely on a Soviet-invented rumor, Fischer "refused to play in either Belgrade or Reykjavik" all of which was false, disputed by Fischer himself in NYTimes 4/05/1972, in cablegram to FIDE he was indeed "Ready to Play."
