KIENTH As Clerk of said Court urang uounir, riunue (SEAL) An informal conference between officials from the federal Housing and Urban Development Departm and business leaders and interested citizens was held In Orlando today to explain advisability of purchasing flood insurance. Speaking to about 100 citizens at Orlando City Hall, Dick Crimm, assistant HUD director in charge of the flood insurance program, outlined the requirements. "MORE than $1 billion is lost annually due to flood disasters," said Crimm, "yet only 90,000 policies have been sold thus far in the estimated 5,000 flood prone areas in the country." To qualify for the program, a community must submit to HUD a written request to participate in the program. City governments may apply, and unincorporated areas must work through county government. AFTER A community begins participating in the flood insurance program, flood insurance policies may be purchased privately from any property and casualty insurance agent or broker licensed to do business in the state.

"It was made available to local insurance agents to facilitate buying the poli-c i said Crimm. "Travelers Insurance Company in Orlando is the servicing company in this area." Structures eligible for flood insurance coverage are residential, business, religious, those for a i 1 tural purposes, those occupied by nonprofit organization and structures owned by state or local governments or agencies. Claims are processed in the same way as loss claims for other types of property insurance. By: Sondra Siegel Sondra Siloel, D. C.

Each has his own concept. FOR IRVING Kaufman, Sanford, it's a lemon-lime slice squeezer.

Bert A. Smyser, Tacoma, says it's his aerial rail car, which he is trying to sell to Walt Disney World. Massachusetts inven tor Joseph A. Lanceiault's better trap is a mobile solar water heater. OR IT'S a new type marine buoy flasher; or a device to eliminate automobile exhaust fumes; or a hinged gutter guard; or a new type electric shaver; or a revolutionary water distiller.

But only about seven of the inventors are "making money." They are here hopefully to convince investors and manufacturers of the merits of their better mouse traps. The inventors' congress exhibits each year at the Exposition, open at Exposition Hall until 5 p.m. today, which concludes after a 10 a.m.-5 p.m. session Friday. ST-842 Apr.
