.JJrATH of as Olb Residem - . We were grieved yesterday by the news ot tae almost sadden death of one of our old and most esteemed citizens. Mr. Charles J. Mansoui, Secretary of tiie Crescent Itunrance Company, died yesterday afternoon, in his tilst year. lie bad been eafTering for some years past of the asthma, but is believed to have succumbed to an apoplectic fit. . Mr. Mansoni was born in Leiioru, on the lUlh of June, ISOl). lie landed in Boston in the early part of the year IS17, and removed to New Orleans in the succeeding year. lie was first employed in the boose of Wm. C. JHewes, Esq., bow President of the Bank of America, and remained here nutil lt, when he went to Mobile and became a partner in the house of McCloskey, Ilairaa Sc Co. Ia 1344, he returned to New O. - leana, which became his home, until the moment of his death. When the . Crescent Insurance Company was formed, Mr. Mansoni was elect sd Secretary, and was rejfularly reelocted to that honorable poet by every Board of Directors, i'or the hut twenty - five years, be also filled the office of Consul of Tuscany. Mr. Mansoni was generally esteemed for his sterling honesty and nprightnefs ofchaiac - ter, and his many amiable qualities won him the respect and love ol all who knew him. He leaves many friends to mourn his loss.
