Servicemen Complimented at Dinner Parties and Dance at the Moose Hall COCIAL EVENTS over the week-end included several dinners held on Sunday and a dancing party at Moose hall on Saturday evening, all arranged to honor servicemen home on leave or furlough. Mr. and Mrs. Doner were hosts at the dancing affair which complimented their cousins, Capt. and Mrs. William Howard, of Camp Pickett, Va., and their nephew, A u b r y Mullen, steward 2/c. of the U. S. Merchant Marines. Dancing was enjoyed to recordings and at a late hour light refreshments were served to the guests, Mrs. William Doner, of Waldon. Col., Mrs. Olaf Hansen, of Oakland, Calif., and Messrs, and Mesdames Allen Mullen, Clarence Hensley, Earl Jacobson, Clarence Wiedling, Fred Barton, jr., Joe W. Doner, Oscar Olson and Lester Doner. Mesdames E. D. Ecison, L. E. Mullen, Delia Shelton and Raymond Oles, Misses Shirley Mullen, Sharon Doner and Barbara Mullen, Jackie Doner, Billie Olcs and Robert Doner. A special guest was Vernon Damgaard, oiler of the merchant marines. ' When Capt. and Mrs. Howard departed for Virginia on Monday they were accompanied by their aur.t, Mrs. William Doner, who plans ( :o be (heir guest for an extended stay. Informal Reception Honoring the J. R. Perkins An informal open-house reception was held Sunday evening the church parlors of the First Congregational church to honor the Rev. and Mrs. J. R. The affair was arranged to the beginning of the Rev. Perkm's twenty-fourth year as minister of the church. Mrs. A. E. Elgan, sr., was chairman in charge of arrangements for the reception and the dinner held at 1 o'clock 60 men parishioners who met preceding the Every Member canvass on Sunday afternoon. A large bouquet of flowers was presented to the honorees and entertainment consisted of musical program and a variety of moving pictures shown by Carl Gernetzky. Bronze chrysanthemums centered the tea table overlaid in lace and set with silver appointments. Presiding, were Mrs. Dale S. Bonar and Mrs. Gernetzky. * * *
