Mysterious Driver Shoots at Vehicle LAKE PARK-Dickinson County County authorities are still searching today for a man in a late-model car who shot at five college students students early Friday morning while they were returning from a trip to Sioux Falls, S.D. According to Deputy Sheriff Jim Turck, none of the Iowa Lakes Community College students students was injured when a man in a station wagon fired at tliem witli a pistol at 2:30 a.m. Friday two or three miles west of Lake Park on Highway 9. The five students involved, who were not injured, are Dan Hanna, Hanna, 19, Woden; Jim Barrett, 19, Crystal Lake; Tim Buns, 19, Woden; Woden; Larry Bruggeman, 18, Larchwood; and Bill Baagoe, 19, Mapleton. Bruggeman and Baagoe live in tlie ILCC dormitory at Estherville. The students told authorities they came up behind a slow-traveling slow-traveling car, passed it, tlien noticed noticed the car's headlights began blinking. Thinking it could be a sheriffs or patrolman's car, driver Dan llanna slowed down. The other car then passed Hanna's vehicle, almost forcing llanna's car off the road. Seeing tliat it was not a patrol patrol car, Hanna again started to pass tlie vehicle. As he was doing so, tlie man in the other vehicle poked a pistol out the window and fired two shots that missed the students' car. The students said it sounded like a .22 caliber pistol. After the students got around the other car, Hanna stopped the vehicle, got out, and started walking walking back toward tlie other car. He hurriedly fell to tlie pavement when two more shots rang out; neither bullet struck him or the car. It was at this point that the unidentified driver decided to turn around and go the otlier way. The students reported tlie incident incident to autliorlties, who sent out an alert. As a I'esult, a car matching matching tlie description was stopped in Worthington, Minn. Two of tlie students taken there to identify tlie driver, a salesman from Nebraska, said he was not the same man who wielded the pistol, so he was released. The car autlioritles are searching searching for has a Nebraska license 'plate and is believed to be a 1965 or 1966 Chevrolet station wagon witli luggage rack on top.
