W. M. MEWBORN PASSES'AWAY Veteran Member of City Police Force Dies at 'Duluth William M. Mewborn. one of th old- est members of the Atlanta police force died at Duluth. G yesterday after noon. He had been In falling health for some time. l ut hl death was not ex petted. Mr Mewborn wan with the police de partment for seventeen years being elected on the force on February 3. 1890. He resigned In March 1907 on tit. MEW-BORN. afriror \Vha Duluth. account of 111 health For several years he was the wason officer. A more faithful and efficient city official never served the people of Atlanta. He was a man of high character to whom duty was a watchword and who was always actuated by what he believed to be right. He a a brave confederate soldier serving through the war In the Sixteenth Georgia In the Virginia army. He was 64 years of age and lived In Atlanta for more than twenty years. When he found that his health was falling- he retired from the police force and went to the home erf relatives near I Duluth. He leaves a wife and a son. Clarence MewUxirn. now In business In Memphis. Tenn. and two daughters. Ml Eva and Miss Annie who are stenographers In the subscription department of The Constitution. H was widely known and had a large circle of friend's who will learn with regret of his death. The funeral will occur tomorrow at Duluth. where the Interment will take place.
