Dlgby Bell, the favorite comedian, who haa made such a pronounced artistic success la bis splendid characterisation of "Ths Hoosier Doctor." will celebrate the twentieth aaaivsraary of his debut aa aa actor this evening. Mr. Bell has had a most varied a ad interesting professional career. For five years he pursued his musical studies In Italy, and eventually made his debut oa June 4. 1877. at the Royal opera-house In the Island of Malta, la the character of the Count tn "La Sonnambula." After hie debut. Did BY V. BT.LU which was extremely successful. Mr. Bell returned to America, and commenced his profes sional career la English grand opera, and even tually anrted Into comic opera. Public and w-snagerlal attention was drawn to htm through his successes la ."The Specter Knight" and "Charity Begins at Home." In the late Colonel John A McCauITs famous organisation. On the completion of his first season with Colonel lie Caull. Mr. Bell signed for the comedy roles to Augustld Daly'a splendid . company..'
