Mrs. Elza Douthitt's father dies. Apr 15, 1915
Obituary. John E. York was born April 28, 1860, in Ripley County, Mo. Died March 28, 1916, age 64 years and 11 months. He wan married to Miss Francis Armstrong, May 28, 1878. To this union ten children were born, seven daughters and three sous, two sons preceding him to the better world beyond, leaving a wife, seven daughters and one son: Mrs. Alvas Harris, of Centralia, Okla., Mrs. T. Hutchison of Berwick., Mrs. Elz Douthitt, Mrs. Ed English, Mrs. Oscar Beaver, Mrs. Gilbert Barbee, Misses Minnie and Otas York, of Ritchey, Mo., eighteen grand-children, grand-children, two brothers and a, host of relatives and friends to mourn his death. He professed faith in Christ at the ago of 40 years, uniting with the Ritchey Baptist church of which he remained a faithful member and willing worker until death. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was an alfoctiouate husband and loving father. He had been a sufferer for about a year with kidney and heart trouble. He suffered iutuiiHe pain the last few days of life but bore it all without a murmur. His HUdileu death waa a shook to the entire community. His funeral was preached by Rov. Car liit, of Monett, March 30, after which his remains were laid to rest in the Odd Fellows cemetery of Newtonia to await the resurrection morn, all be gathered tc when we shall part no more, if wo only remain faithful to our blessod Savior.
