Jack Newel Mt. Vernon Jack Avery Newel, 82, of 222 S. 15th St., died at 2:20 a.m. today at Good Samaritan Samaritan Hospital. He was retired, after working as a coal miner for 30 years. Mrv Newel was bom in Glen Allan, Mo., on Sept. 1. 1893, the son of Robert E. and Mary (Masters) Newel. On Feb. 22, 1922, he was married in Marble Hill, Mo., to Alberta Evins, who survives. survives. • He was a member of the West Salem Trinity United . Methodist church, Imd was a member of Mt. Vernon Masonic Masonic Lodge 31. AF& AM. for 30 years. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hunhoy-Pullcy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Marvin Fricsner officiating. Burial will be in Bethel cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Thursday. Masonic .services will be conducted by Mt. Vernon Lodge 31. AF & AM at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral liomc. In addition to his wife. Alberta. Alberta. Mr. Newel is survived by a foster son. Harry Ossig. Ml. Vernon: a brother, James P. Newel, Cape Girardeau. Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Radtc" Lincoln, Chaffee. Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death l)y three brothers and two sisters.
