D., is just now one of the subjects of talk in the post-office department and the Dako- fa colony interested in affairs there The report of an inspector sent there to examine the situation says there ia cause for removal of John Firey, the present postmaster, whose term does not expire for a long time yet. One of the charges is carelessness in the conduct of the business. The charges are not new, but there is an ambition on the part of South Dakota men in the city to see official action, and the candidates are numerous. If Mr. Firey in removed there are at least four men to pick from. George Schlosser, R. E. Miles, Ira Barnes and Mr. Morrill have .considerable back- ing before the department.
