8-t/THE SEGUIN GAZETTE/APRIL 22, 1971 Mrs, Bennie Gibson retires The Seguin Classroom Teachers Association met April 15, in the Seguin High School west cafeteria. Mrs. Bennie Gibson, a high school teacher who. is retiring this spring after twenty* seven years in the Seguin Independent School District, was honored by the group. Mrs. Ethel Larsen president of the association, pre* sented Mrs. Gibson with a special certificate in recognition of her years of service, Election of officers for the coming year was held. The 1971* 72 slate of officers consists of; Jim Ulbricht, president; Pat Wheeler, first vice-president, Ida Floch, second vice-president, Dorothy Rsntnharh. third vice- president; DeLols Govett, secre* tary and L.W, Harris, treasurer. During the session members heard reports bv various committees. Tommy Wofford urged all membui-d ..„ .,»-iio their re* presentatives asking them to vote for House Bill #1077. Minutes of the previous meeting were read by Carole Springs, secretary and approved by the group. Mrs, Coleta Byrd gave the treasurer's report. At the conclusion of the meeting a social hour followed, Cokes chips, and dips were served by Mildred Powers, Lola Pybus, and Smokey Turner, honored Albina (Mrs. Bennie) Gibson deft) is retiring from the teaching profession after 40 years of service. She spent 27 of those years as a teacher in the Seguin Independent School System. She is seen being presented a certificate from Mrs. James Larsen, president of the Seguin Classroom Teachers Association in recognition of her service in the profession. Gazette phot by Parks.
