We pay 3 per cent, interest on all savings accounts opened opened with us on or before January 10th $1.00 will do it " ltlO There is gloom and sorrow in the vicinity - of Birch street and Cedar avenue, and at the Neptune Engine house once more, another of their old est and most esteemed associates, Jacob Hartman, having passed to the great beyond yesterday morning. Mr. Hartman was one of theoldest citizens on this side, having lived here nearly forty years. He was an upright honorable citizen, and he had the re spect and confidence of all. He served a term in councils, and for several years past was a faithful employe of the Scranton School Board, as Janitor at the No. S school. He was ill but a week, death being due to intestinal trouble which resulted in hemorrhages The deceased was a member ot Nay Aug Tribe of Red Men. Besides his wife the following sons and daughters survive. Jacob J., Geo. O., Charles, Fred, Mrs. Peter Keller - man, Annie, Emma and Lottie Hartman. Hartman.
