Luther Duncan was sentenced to life Imprisonment late Friday by Judge A. E. Debaun, of Sullivan circuit court. Duncan was found guilty of first degree degree murder In the slaying of his wife. Nora Duncan. March 16, at Lyons. - The defendant had pleaded insanity. Under the new Indiana statute that provides for the judge In a first degree degree murder trial to fix either' the life imprisonment penalty or death in the electric chair, the Jury returned only a verdict of guilty. Duncan shot his wife ' with a 22 - callber - rifle, following a hearing in which the wife had questioned her husband's sanity. v Judge Debaun had deferred . sentencing sentencing Duncan until defense attorneys attorneys had filed their motion for a new trlaL' .
