DEATHS MRS. MARTHA .lANK ROBERTS Mn. Martha Jane Roberts, 71. of Route 1, Burlington, near Whit - sett, died at the home of her son, G. W. Roberts, at 6:30 o'clock this morning after six years of failing health and three weeks of critical - illness. Wife of the late S. M. Roberts, she was born in Henry County, Va., as the daughter of Alex and Mrs. Lucinda Payne Hill. The funeral will be held at the , home of her son, George W. Roberts, Roberts, on Route 1, Burlington, and will be conducted by Rev. J. W. Foster, pastor of Springwood Presbyterian church, but - the time and date are yet to be announced. Burial will be at Hobbs Cross Roads church cemetery in Orange County. The body will remain at the Rich and Thompson mortuary until until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning when it will be taken to the G. W. Roberts home. Survivors include two daugh ters, Mrs. Kosa Tate and Mrs. Ferry Apple, both of Gibsonville; two sons, Howard of Hillsboro and George W. of Route 1; two step - daughters, Mrs. Vera Hicks of Greensboro and Mrs. Lillie Mc - Vey of Norfolk, Va.; three , step sons, A. W. Roberts of Norfolk, Va., C. C. Roberts of Hillsboro, and R. W. Roberts of DraDer: three sisters, Mrs. Mary Dixon of Burlington, Mrs. Carrie Ashley of Danville, Va., and Mrs. Dora Moore of Glen Raven; two broth ers, Bob Hill of East Bend, and Charlie Hill of Glen Raven; 10 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, grandchildren, and 21 step grandchildren. grandchildren.
