A Farr . Escape. Rome Courier. Mr. Dave 1'harr of Chattoora county came near being drowned in the back water uear Big Ury creek bridge Thursday after noon. He left Home in a buggy and started for his home and on reacbfng the jack water which came from the Oostanaula river he drove in thinking he could cross over with safety. He had not gone in fur before his horse struck swimming water and at a place where the water was eight feet deep the buggy struck a stump frightening and confusing the horse so much that 10 began plunging around becoming entan- jled in the harness. Mr. Pharrgot out of the buggy into the water and endeavored to extricate the animal but instead of succeeding be was jerked under the water by horse and almost drowned. Fortunately however be escaped as did also the horse. The only loss occasioned by the accident was a few valuable papers and a small sum of money which vas washed out of the buggy. t' C"mri r.
