Car flips over, Clute resident dies of injuries CLUTE — Johnny Frank Knop of 508 Smith died Sunday morning, several hours after the car he was driving flipped over, landing upside down in a ditch in the 400 Block of Smith St. Police reported Knop was alone in the 1962 Chevrolet Nova Saturday night when he apparently lost control as he was travelling east on Smith St. He had chest and head injuries, they said. Knop was laken by Brazosport Ambulance lo Communily Hospilal where he died al 10:30 a.m. The accidenl occurred about 8:15 p.m. Saturday. Services for Knop will be 2:30pm. Monday (Aug. 23, 1976) at Ihe Lakewood Funeral Chapel, Ihe Rev. Cecil Uzzel officiating. Knop, 29, was the owner and operator of a wrecker service in Clute. He was a veteran of the Vietnam conflicl anS a member of the VFW. Military graveside rites will be conducted and burial will be in Keslwood Memorial Park. Knop is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue; a daughter, Peggy Sue; and his grandmolher, Rose Burroughs.
