Volume 49, Number 16 local Men Begin Operation Of New Fertilizer Plant BROOKSHIRE, WALLER CO, TEXAS A new manufacturing plant The Soutli Texas Liquid Fertilizer Fertilizer Manufacturing Co. has started operation in Katy. Katy. This plant is owned and operated by Willis B. Hicks and Melvin Scott. This new plant manufactures manufactures complete analysis neutral neutral solution fertilizers. The owners of the plant stress that the material is non- presure and nonflamable; it •will not burn or explode. This material is a stable solution •which may be applied directly directly on top of the soil or in the soil. It may be distributed by plane or applied very effectively effectively (for even distribution) in irrigation water. Raw materials are received received by tank cars. A certain number of units of nitrogen, phosphate and potash go into into a reactor tank through calibrated meters and measuring measuring tanks where they react react together to make the following following grades of ammonium phosphate solution, 4 -11 -11; 8 -16 -8; 15 -15 -0; 15 -0 -5; 8 -24 -0; 9 -9 -9 and others. The company operates un- er the State of Texas regulations regulations and are subject to state tests at all times and frequently send samples to be analized. For the past two years South Texas Liquid Fertili- ser Corp. has been selling this type of liquid fertilizer and this winter installed the equipment for manufacturing manufacturing it. The several large tanks erected just east of the sheet metal building housing the reactor tank and meters.are storage tanks for raw materials and the finished product. They havj a storage capacity of 500 ton for the finished product. Besides the fertilizer that they manufacture, they also have liquid type non-pressure non-pressure 32 % nitrogen solution that can be flown or dribbled on the ground as well as the anhydrous ammonia business which they have been in for several years. Farm delivery will be made with a tank truck equiped with a Rockwell ticket ticket printing-type meter to correctly compute the amount amount of fertilizer delivered. Alton Sturm is employed by the firm assisting with manufacturing business and with the customer servicing. Cutting Horse Contest To be Nationally Approved at Katy The Cutting Horse Contest at the Katy F.F.A. Fat Stock Show will be nationally approved. approved. E. B. Monigold, Jr. talked to the headquarters of the National Cutting Horse Association on Tuesday Tuesday at Fort Worth and was given the approval for the show. Clem Boettcher of East Bernard will be the judge. The books for the local show close at noon Thui-sday, Mai-ch 24. Eight horses will be drawn for the workout on Friday night and eight for Saturday night; all others will work Friday afternoon beginning at 4 o'clock. Entry fee is $20.00. To enter call or write E. Times Photo School Board Meeting is Program of P-ff P. T.A. The program for the P-B PTA meeting next Thursday evening, Mar. 17 at the high school will be a regular meeting meeting of the district's Board of Education. The theme of the month is "Parents and Teachers Share Concern." Vanderslice, pastor of the First Baptist Church of El Campo will be the evangelist evangelist in a revival meeting to begin Sunday, March 13 at First Baptist Cliurch of Katy. Katy. Services will be held at 10 each morning and at 7:30 each evening through March 20th. Mr. Vanderslice, a graduate graduate of Oklahoma Baptist U. also attended Southwestern Theological Seminary at Ft. Worth. He has been a pastor in both Oklahoma and Texas.
