Clipped From The Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune
"I felt so sorry for Sandy," said Fran Machholz. She was so embarrassed. embarrassed. She didn't think it was funny at all. "But now she can laugh about it, too." LLoyd and Fran Machholz were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary anniversary and they got a surprise. A surprise indeed. Rich and Sandy Machholz, who live at Marshall, had sent his parents greetings and gifts by Rich's sister, Pat, and husband, Jim Anderson, who were going through Chillicothe on their way to St. Joseph. Sandy had baked a cake with "40th Anniversary" on it and there was a bell with "40th" on it. And then, sentimentally, sentimentally, there was a small heart-shaped silver picture frame with a picture from the late 1930s or early '40s. The Machholzes unwrapped the anniversary anniversary gift and Fran began to laugh. "That's Lloyd, all right," she said. "But that's not me with him." The photograph was of Lloyd and somebody else. The picture of Lloyd Machholz and the dark-haired girl had been taken one Sunday at Lebanon (Mr. Machholz says he doesn't remember her name). "That picture .was taken before ever met Lloyd," said Mrs. Machholz. "We had given Rich and Sandy bunch of old photographs and they going through them for a picture of put in the frame. There really weren't many pictures of us together from then. "They found this one, and they weren't quite sure and Rich looked close and said, 'That's Dad all right. that's Mom. "It has to be." The girl in the photo was "dark-haired and about my build," Mrs. Machholz. She said she could "how the kids" made the mistake. "When we called Rich and Sandy thank them and told her about it, was so embarrassed. I felt so sorry her. She didn't think it was funny 'You don't expect people to keep of old girl friends that long,' Sandy I really hadn't thought anything about It was just in there with all those old photos." But Sandy can now laugh about too-- the anniversary picture with wrong girl in it. Said Sandy: "It's Rich's fault."
