Barred Out of Hall: Anti-Conscription Socialists Speak to 1,000 in Street

News report about a Brooklyn rally against conscription sponsored by the Socialist Propaganda League, originally a Boston-based organization. Locked out of the hall they had rented, the scheduled meeting was held in the street instead. Speaking against the draft at the street meeting was Edward I. Lindgren, later prominent in the early American Communist movement. Department of Justice stenographers were on hand to take down the remarks and an arrest was rumored to be forthcoming.
