Light planes of Sheriff Reno Bartolomie's air squadron and the civil air patrol squadrons of Ukiah and Santa Rosa searched the area from Comptcha south -to Bodega Bay and from Cloverdale and Sonoma county airport back north to Comptche. Ground crews searched the area south of the mouth of the Navarro River to Parrott's airstrip. The sheriff's four - wheel - drive jeep patrol with 12 units stood by in Boonville to take off for the timbered' area as soon as any ro- ports came in of wreckage discovered. Coast Guard A) (Is A big Coast Guard PB4-Y-2 (converted B-24 bomber) took off from Ukiah airport about 9:15 this morning to search the entire area from a higher altitude. Shorifr Bartolomie phoned for coast guard assistance at- 5 a.m. today, and the plane stopped here to pick up L. A. Balcom and George Sheets to act as observers. Sheets, a local logger, is very familiar with the area involved, said Bartolomie.
