Carroll Pullerton, D-Huron still lay in critical.condition in Huron hospital today while the South Dakota traffic toll spiraled upward with the death .of a.22- year 'old Rapid City girl. Fullerton underwent emergency surgery most of Wednesday afternoon following a car • true! collision near Yale which claimed, the lives of two Huron businessmen, Ralph Blschoff and Frank Sanderson. The state traffic toll now stands at 164 with the death of Mary Ellen Feather, crushed beneath a ;ar Wednesday after she was thrown from the vehicle when it slid off a road near Interstate 90 at Rapid City. Authorities said they were holding Don Hoover, 34, driver of the car. He is a Kansas Cityan who works on a missile site project. The traffic toll last year* at this time was 185. Fullerton was operated on for a crushed chest and several broken bones immediately after arriving at St. John's Hospital. The station wagon in which he was riding collided with a gravel truck and was thrown 75 feet. Fullerton was thrown out and found directly beside the vehicle Bischoff, 59,' was killed outright; Sanderson, 60, was dead on arriva at the hospital. The three were on a duck hunting trip. Fullerton owns a furniture business, Bischoff was an investment broker and Sanderson operated a hamburger shop, Al b e r t Hohm, driver of the truck, received slight injuries.
