Lieut.-Comm. Helmick No word has been received since the outbreak of hostilities from Lt Com. G. B. Helmick, son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy D. Helmick of 1852 Evergreen avenue, who is assigned as engineer officer on a fi-inch gun cruiser based at Pearl Harbor. is presumed that his ship is now at sea. Lt. Com. Helmick last visited visited his parents here in October spending a d;iy in Alton after flying trip from the west coast where his ship had put in for brief stay. His last letter, Nov. 20, was mailed from Pearl Harbor. For a period of two years up tin- fall of 19-10, Lt. Com. Helmick was stationed in St. Louis in charge of N;ivy recruiting.
