FUNERAL NOTICES Virginia Louise Goodacre Virginia Louise Goodacre, nee Granieri, passed away on March 23, 2003 in her Ukiah home at the age of 72. The last of 11 children, Virginia was born in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania on October 17, 1930 to Italian immi- ' grants. At the age of 24, the adventurous "Ginnie" set out for Japan, planning a brief stop in the San Francisco Bay Area along the way. There she met Gary, her husband of 47 years, and eventually settled settled in Ukiah in 1959. In addition to raising her four children, Virginia worked outside the home for many years, the last 15 with Mendocino County, where she retired in 1992 as Deputy Clerk of the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors. Beyond her deep commitment commitment as a wife, mother and grandmother, Virginia had many passions. She was closely involved with the St. Mary's Church where she sang in the choir for many years, and volunteered volunteered in her grandchildren's grandchildren's classrooms teaching painting and drawing. She was a dedicated and inspired artist whose floral watercolors won awards throughout the County. Virginia was actively involved with the Mendocino County Art Association as well as the Grace Hudson Museum, donating her time and spirit to the betterment of the community. She was active as a volunteer with Plowshares. Some of her other hobbies included sewing, crafts, walking, swimming, travel, and gardening. gardening. Virginia's spirit lives on in her husband Garrett and her son Guy of Ukiah, her sons Mark and Matt of Santa Rosa, her daughter Susan of Fairfax, and her five grandchildren; Samantha, Lauren, Kelsey, Aaron, and Nicholas. She will also be missed by her sisters Mary Close of Gallipolis, Ohio, Julie Bell of New Paltz, NY, and Rosemary Kish of Orlando, Florida, and her brother Frank Granieri of New Jersey. Friends are invited to a memorial service at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ukiah on Thursday, March 27th at 10:30am, with a reception to follow.
