ALBERT S. TWEED SR. ASHEVILLE - Albert S. Tweed Sr., 94, formerly of 41 Green Oak Road, Woodfin, died Sunday, July 1 5, 2001 . Mr. Tweed was born Aug. 24, 1906, in Madison County and had been a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He worked as a trucker in the ship Albert Tweed Sr. ping department of American Enka where he retired after 25 years of service. Albert was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Weaverville. He was the son of the late Douglas Sevier and Hattie Cornilia Roberts Tweed. Also preceding preceding him in death were two brothers, brothers, Leo and Carrol Tweed, and three sisters, Mamie T. Flowe, Nettie T. Beaver and Annie T. Bigham. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Ruth Edwards Tweed; son, Albert S. Tweed Jr. of Candler; daughters, Elizabeth T. Morrow of Asheville and Ada T. Sheehan of Spring Hope; five grandchildren, Crystal Tweed, Rusty Morrow, Angela Diltz and Lydia and Justin Sheehan; sister, Hattie Teague of Marshall and Charlotte; brothers, Col. McDonald Tweed and Dan Tweed; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with the Revs. Paul Sluder and Bryan Sheehan officiating. officiating. Burial will be in Elk Mountain Cemetery, Woodfin. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Rickie and Elizabeth Morrow, 477 McKinnish Cove Road, Asheville. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
