Andy Falls, high school football, Aug 1973
Air Arm Laughlin AFB is a strong contributor to the community in many ways and means. One current contribution that helps more than one might imagine is the Air Force proper or Civil Service feature at the Del Rio base which counts for 20 members of the present group of Rams suiting up for vanity and JV action. Currently Laughfin-connected football personnel include Andy Falls, Pat McElhaney, Walter and Levi Woblsey, Chester Howard. Danny Aaron, Robert Hernandez, David Edwards, Gene Brown, Mario Hernandez, Willie Jordan, Mike Sadler, George McFarlen. Marshall Williams, Pat Medina, Leonel Sosa, David O'Meara, Steve Mida, Eloy Gloria and Robert Hennessee. All these young troopers are part of the 1973 grid program at our high school ana help make the Rams football picture as prospectively bright as we now see it. This evening they'll get contact baptism under game-like conditions at San Antonio against another big bunch of Class 4A gridders at Sam Houston High where the Cherokees have their practice reservation. I plan to be on hand for the 5 and 6 p.m. scrimmages and while both are just trial sessions I'm sure the Del Ripans will get with it. Later on when the Rams engage in actual grid warfare we expect the community, and that takes in all of the city limits, the rural areas in between and Laughlin's handsome air base, to attend the games. Good football is in store for the fans. Coach Claude Fest ran a tough grid camp this spring and summer. He should receive good execution from the playing personnel which exhibits physical conditions that border on the hairy-scairy side. The name of the game is hit — hit — hit and if our troops follow the pattern set by last season's defensive unit, it's Katie bar the door because here comes the F ighting Rams.
