Two Safe in Oil Furnace Explosions Statesman News Service TURNER Clarence Cranford and his grandson escaped injuries Sunday night when a furnace ex ploded underneath his home on Denver Street in the southwest section of Turner. After the 8:45 p.m. explosion, Cranford crawled underneath the house to check the floor furnace when it exploded again. Witnesses said Cranford luckily escaped burns as flames leaped into the HIT, RUN REPORTED Patrick G. McClaughry, Salem Rt 2, Box 457, told city police during the weekend that a hit, run motorist damaged his car parked in the 100 block of Liberty St. NE, between noon and 11 p.m. Saturday. The left rear fender was damaged. living room of the house. The flames blackened the living room, blistered walls and a piano in the new home and caused smoke damage throughout the house. Damage was estimated at several hundred dollars. Firemen extinguished the blaze. The oil furnace was destroyed by the explosions. The home was Insured. Insured.
