Inspection and Safety Center helps manage AF By Maj. Gen. Harry Falls Commander Inspection and Safety Center Norton AFB The Air Force maintains maintains a staff of inspectors inspectors and safety officers who provide management management and technical advice to Air Force managers. They belong to the Office of The Inspector Inspector General, an executive executive staff office specifically specifically established to assist Air Force management, management, and make up the Air Force Inspection Inspection and Safety Center (AFISC). The Office of The Inspector Inspector General is almost as old as the Air Force itself. It was instituted instituted in January 1948 by the Chief of Staff to assist him in management of the Air Force.. Emphasis was placed then, and now, on determination of combat readiness and logistic effectiveness of the Air Force and its commands. The Office "The Office of The Inspector General is almost as old as the Air Force itself' of the Deputy Inspector Inspector General for Inspection Inspection and Safety located at Norton AFB was es- es- tablished under, and is. a field extension of, the Air Force Inspector General. AFISC has an assigned assigned work force of 374 military and 138 civilian civilian personnel, representing representing 70 Air Force specialties. It is divided into four directorates and two offices.
